About Us

We are Hayley and Emma and we run Mini Explorers Childcare in Strensall, York.
Hayley
As a mum of 3 and having to juggle childcare when I was working full time myself I know how important it is to find a high quality, reliable childminder that can provide a loving, nurturing environment for your child to develop in and also to have fun!
Having my own children I have a lot of experience with working with a range of different ages- including newborn's! My own children are aged 2, 6 and 11 years old. Ella attends Huntington Secondary School, Eva is at Robert Wilkinson and Emmie attends pre-school. I have a passion for childcare and education and I have been gaining valuable experience throughout the years.
Emma
I am a qualified teacher and completed my degree in Primary Education (3-7). I have completed school placements in nursery, reception and year one and have worked as a supply teacher across various York schools and nursery settings. I have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS statutory framework and development matters.
I provide a loving, nurturing environment and am passionate about working with young children to promote independence, support their personal, social and emotional development and encourage a life-long love of learning through providing an exciting and engaging curriculum that allows children to learn through exploration.
The Setting
🏡 We will take care of your child physically, socially and intellectually by providing high-quality, small group interactions and an intriguing environment in which to explore. We provide a nurturing home from home environment that children will love and enjoy. We encourage learning through play whilst we work towards the seven areas of learning within the EYFS curriculum. ✏️
♥️ Your child will be treated as if they were my own. I will help the children to expand their comfort zones in a way that’s safe and secure and will constantly monitor and improve my quality of care to ensure your child is happy with me here 💙
🌳 Childhood should be an exciting adventure, a time for children to discover, explore and investigate the world around them. We ensure that we get lots of trips out to places such as Murton Park, National Trust, Castle Howard, Burnby Hall and lots of walks to Strensall Common where we have lots of space to explore! We also like to be a part of the local community and regularly visit the park, toddler groups, the library, the local community run cafe plus much more! 🍃
The Setting
🏡 I work in partnership with parents to achieve the best possible outcomes for all the children in my care. To record the children's days and progress with us, we will complete observations and a daily diary to show you what we have been doing, this will be shared with you via Famly at the end of every day. 💙
🎨 I incorporate all seven areas of learning into the early years curriculum. I ensure children have a well prepared, inviting and stimulating environment. Providing a range of activities to cater for children's individual interests and development needs ✏️
🌳 We have a small playroom at the back of the house which opens up onto the enclosed garden which the children can access as they please. We have lots of activities & resources for the children and like to plan a theme for every few weeks but we are still very much child led. We love to do lots of crafts and do baking/cooking!
